USD Experiencing Server Problems

Two nights ago, The University of South Dakota's  IT Department undertook a firmware update that has affected several USD servers and the wireless systems. Currently, the Wegner Library's online resources including our databases and our online journals are inaccessible through the proxy server OR within the library. We have not heard when this issue may be resolved. We are very sorry for the inconvenience!

Firmware is software that is embedded in a piece of hardware. Or programming that is written into the read-only (ROM) memory of a computing device. There is also a problem with USD's dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) which is a network protocol that enables a server to automatically assign an IP address to a computer from a defined range of numbers configured for a given network. DHCP assigns an IP address when a system is started.
