Two nights ago, The University of South Dakota's IT Department undertook a firmware update that has affected several USD servers and the wireless systems. Currently, the Wegner Library's online resources including our databases and our online journals are inaccessible through the proxy server OR within the library. We have not heard when this issue may be resolved. We are very sorry for the inconvenience! Firmware is software that is embedded in a piece of hardware. Or programming that is written into the read-only (ROM) memory of a computing device. There is also a problem with USD's dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) which is a network protocol that enables a server to automatically assign an IP address to a computer from a defined range of numbers configured for a given network. DHCP assigns an IP address when a system is started.
During the week of March 9, 2015, The University of South Dakota (USD) is transitioning to its new public Web site. You will begin to notice a change in the look of certain internal pages, but their functionality should remain the same. This will affect the University Libraries' and the Wegner Center Library's Web pages as well. Page directs are being created by University Libraries' to help with the transition but some Web browser bookmarks may need to be updated or recreated. The changes will make the Web pages more streamlined and will help with displaying the libraries' Web pages on mobile devices. Please let us know if you have any questions!
